Our Impact

Founded in 1968, J Bar J Youth Services has been serving teens for over four decades. We started as a working ranch for boys and over the years, we have responded to the needs of youth in the community with a continuum of services. We believe in teaching kids how to take responsibility for their own thinking. We ask youth to be accountable for their actions and to recognize their thinking errors. Our goal is to see youth succeed as happy, healthy adults who contribute to their families and their community.  We believe in the importance of each child, focusing on their strengths and building resilience. We are proud of the hard work they do while they are with us to change their behaviors.

What’s New?

August has been a great time for the youth in our programs to enjoy the outdoors and go camping. At the beginning of this month, the youth at the Loft enjoyed a couple of days at Lava Lake. They fished at the lake as well as the Deschutes river, caught crawdads to cook & enjoyed the rolling thunderstorms. Despite getting drenched on a couple of times, that didn’t stop them from having a good time!

What People Are Saying

“I always heard so many of my case workers, and counselors tell me how to overcome my own thinking, but I was resistant to change for so long. I would have loved to hear from a graduate when I was a resident so I could see with my own eyes that how I feel, and think as a teenager changes. We become adults, and responsible for ourselves. If speaking with the boys there helps even one of them, I would feel like I’ve given back to the people who spent so much time giving me the tools to change. “
