Position: Resident Monitor
Department: The Academy at Sisters
Reports to: Program Manager
Resident monitors will provide overall supervision, (according to the program guidelines), of resident youth throughout the day and night hours. Resident Monitors will learn, understand and implement the ABCR Program model to encourage responsibility and accountability with residents. Resident monitors are responsible for ensuring the on-going safety of all residents and working together with co-workers to foster consistent implementation of program.
Full-time or part time, days, swing, weekends, variable, holiday and flex schedule.
Direct monitoring and supervision of residents according to phase or level
Monitor and provide feedback to youth regarding acceptable interactions with staff and peers
Monitor and provide feedback to youth relative to their individual treatment plan and program using point card and other behavioral feedback tools
Assist youth with risk or crisis management issues as needed
Supervise daily and deep clean chores and provide necessary feedback to youth to ensure chores are completed and facility is maintained in optimum condition at all times
Supervise and participate in individual youth activities, group activities, campus focused improvement projects and physical education curriculum as needed
Communicate and provide feedback to Treatment Coordinators, Therapist and Program Manager regarding youth behaviors and interactions relative to individual treatment plans
Refer youth to Therapist, Treatment Coordinator or Program Manager as needed for additional counseling or support
Co-facilitate psycho-educational and skill building groups as needed
Assist with transportation of youth as needed for store runs, medical appointments, etc.
Assist with cooking meals and food service for residents
Accurately dispense and record medications for youth
Distribute youth allowance
Update deep clean and daily chore lists and weekly data input
Assist with filing, making copies, cleaning staff offices and other administrative requests
Participate and effectively communicate with co-workers during pre-shift planning
Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings and other meetings as needed
Appropriately represent and promote the Academy at Sisters
Other duties as required by Program Manager
Knowledge, Skills and Ability: Ability to communicate and interact appropriately with at risk adolescents in a residential setting. Willingness to understand and establish appropriate, consistent professional boundaries with youth. Ability to manage crisis situations and utilize crisis management skills. Ability to follow protocol when addressing emergency situations. Maintain professional demeanor and represents the agency in a professional manner at all times. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Ability to interface appropriately with parents, referring professionals and others as needed.
Experience and Training: Bachelor’s degree with major study in social work, psychology, sociology or a closely allied field. To be considered as a substitute for a bachelor’s degree, the combination of formal education and experience must consist of a combination of (1) one year of work experience and (2) two years of education, training, or additional work experience, all in the care and rehabilitation of youth. Valid Oregon driver license and CPR/1st Aid certification required.
