Position: Resident Monitor
Department: Grandma’s House
Reports to: Program Director

Job Summary

Responsible for the security, safety and supervision of residents through direct monitoring, active interaction and clear staff communication.

This position includes days, awake overnights, swing, weekends and holidays with a variable schedule.


Direct monitoring and supervision of residents

Monitor and provide feedback to youth regarding acceptable interactions with staff and peers

Monitor and provide feedback to youth relative to their individual plan

Assist youth with risk or crisis management issues as needed

Supervise daily and deep clean chores and provide necessary feedback to youth to ensure chores are completed and facility is maintained in optimum condition at all times

Supervise and participate in individual youth activities, group activities, campus focused improvement projects and physical education curriculum as needed

Active interaction with residents in recreational, discretionary and daily living activities

Assist with transportation of youth as needed for store runs, medical appointments, etc.

Assist with cooking meals and food service for residents

Accurately dispense and record medications for youth

Update deep clean and daily chore lists and weekly data input

Co-operation and coordination with Case Manager(s) and other staff workers to ensure an open channel of communication regarding treatment and behavioral expectations of individual residents

Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings and other meetings as needed

Other duties as required by Program Director


Knowledge, Skills and Ability: Effectively provide intervention services to resident population. Demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to interface smoothly with other staff, referring agencies, parents, schools and others, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times, as well as remain calm and in control during situations. Ability to be a positive team player. Attention to detail.

Experience and Training: A Bachelor’s degree with major study in social work, psychology, sociology or a closely allied field is preferred. To be considered as a substitute for a bachelor’s degree, the combination of formal education and experience must consist of a combination of (1) one year of work experience and (2) two years of education, training, or additional work experience, all in the care and rehabilitation of youth. Valid Oregon driver license and CPR/1st Aid certification required within first 30-days.
