Reports to: Program Manager, Treatment Manger

Position Summary:

Serve as a reliable and consistent treatment provider for juvenile offenders enrolled in a residential program. Assist youth in working towards understanding and implementing therapeutic goals and objectives as outlined in their individual treatment plan. Ensure behavioral rehabilitative services, hours met, appointments and other core activities. The Activities Coordinator is responsible for researching, developing and implementing an age appropriate, diverse blend of recreational activities for at risk juvenile youth. The activities component is designed to facilitate learning, reinforce positive risk, and help support the therapeutic and academic goals of the youth. The Activities Coordinator will act as liaison between the Agency and the community to create partnerships for promoting health and wellness for youth and families. Duties

Activities Coordinator:

§ Contact and ongoing liaison with court system, parole officer, and juvenile court workers relative to treatment and case work issues.
§ Contact and maintain communication between parents and/or legal guardians about meetings.
§ Provide assistance in the development of creating relationships in the community that aid in productive experiences for youth.
§ Directly responsible for scheduling, coordination, documentation of outings.
§ Directly responsible for providing, documenting, ensuring that all Behavioral Rehabilitation Service (BRS) hours are met.
§ Supervision and management of residents in daily living environment.
§ Hold residents accountable for responsible, appropriate behavior with feedback, use of point cards or token economy system.
§ Participation in recreational and discretionary activities with residents.
§ Other duties as required by Program Director and Treatment Manager.

DELIVERY OF TREATMENT SERVICES

§ Development and implementation of treatment as described in service plans.
§ Attendance at case management meetings, staff meetings and other related staffings of meetings pertinent to youth on caseload.
§ Develop and maintain case files as required by program, OYA contract and agency policy.
§ Prepare and facilitate outings and assign resident monitors to outings.
§ Develop goal work, action steps, and weekly special programs goals.
§ Provide individual counseling as needed to meet treatment goals and objectives.
§ Update daily log and document resident progress.
§ Provide documentation of group and individual work.
§ Provide services and written documentation as needed for any resident of J Bar J ranch.
§ Facilitate treatment groups.

Activities Coordinator RESPONSIBILITIES

§ Ensure safety, security and supervision
§ Ensure viability J Bar J Youth Service
§ Ensure contractual requirements are met on outings
§ Complete risk assessments
§ Communicate with JPPO about approval for outings needing a risk assessment.
§ Create monthly schedules that are posted for reference.

Qualifications

§ Knowledge, Skills and Ability: To effectively facilitate offenders-specific groups and individual counseling. Demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to interface effectively with referring agencies, parents, schools and others as required. Knowledge of Oregon Revised Statutes relative to juvenile offenders. Knowledge of effective intervention strategies with delinquent youth and their families. Ability to remain in control during crisis situations and maintain a rational, professional demeanor at all times.

§ Experience and Training: A bachelor’s degree with major study in social work or a closely allied field and two (2) years of experience in the care and rehabilitation of youth. CPR/1st Aid certification required within first 30-days.

§ Physical Requirements: While performing the duties for the job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee occasionally is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
